You can control the quality level with four choices - Best, High, Medium, and Basic. At the highest setting the quality approaches the level of DVD. At the lowest setting, the picture quality is closer to VHS tape. These times assume that all shows on the recorder are recorded at the same quality setting. Since you can set the level differently for each show, the actual number of programs on the receiver may vary.
