Sony's SAT-HD100 is a versatile, affordable TV tuner solution that opens the door to digital television. It can receive and decode all ATSC digital television formats (HDTV and SDTV) and "upconverts" them to 1080i for breathtaking picture quality when used with HDTV-ready TVs like Sony's Hi-Scan direct-view and projection models. Besides receiving all available analog (NTSC) and digital over-the-air broadcasts via a rooftop antenna (not included), it also gives you access to DIRECTV® and digital DIRECTV HD satellite programming (dish not included).

To bridge the quality gap between Standard Definition and High Definition sources, the SAT-HD100 can also upconvert any 480i broadcast to 1080i output. This remarkable tuner can even downconvert DTV shows for viewing on your current analog TV!

If you'll be continuing to use cable or an over-the air antenna, the SAT-HD100 can really simplify things. It brings in over-the-air DTV and conventional TV signals, and even most unscrambled cable channels. Sony's Program Guide seamlessly merges your broadcast, cable and satellite channels into one easy-to-read display. The SAT-HD100 is a multi-satellite tuner, so you may be able to receive your favorite local stations via DIRECTV (contact DIRECTV for local-channel availability).

More and more HDTV and DIRECTV programs include Dolby® Digital audio. Just connect the SAT-HD100 to your Dolby Digital receiver via the provided optical digital output, and get ready for super-crisp digital audio to go with that super-crisp picture.
